Hi

we have a webshop in 3 different languages. All fields except description should be the same across all languages, and under Settings/Ecommerce/Advanced xonfigurations/Fields - I have been able to configure this for most fields.

But for the assets fields - managed under Settings/Ecommerce/Product xatalogue/Asset categories - I can´t figure out hot to configure them so that the master language controls all other languages.

 

I can change the assets across all languages, and changes to the "master" language don´t inherit to other languages.

How can I control this, and set the assets to inherit to all languages?

Hi Hans,

There is an inheritance setting in the Assets. For each category, you can choose if the assets are inherited or merged.

I can't advise on the right way to configure it, but maybe you can play around with the options until you get closer.

Hello Hans,

You can configure inheritance type in Settings > Ecommerce > Product Catalog > Edit Asset category.

The inheritance type determines if and how assets in this category are inherited to variant and language versions. There are three types of inheritance:

  • None means assets with this tag are not inherited from main products to variants/language versions
  • Merge means that assets are inherited from the main product to variants/language versions and merged with assets added specifically to the category on the variant or language version
  • Fallback means that assets are inherited from the main product to variants/language version if no assets have been specifically added to the asset category on the variant/language version

So once you assign asset to a certain category in PIM "Manage assets" dialog - it will be inherited to language versions and variants in accordance with the rules specified on this asset category.
