Switching domains on a live site

Hi team,

When switching from domain1.com to domain2.com, what are the steps we need to take when using a DW-cloud installation? This is what I expect:

  1. Update settings in DW:
    1. Add host headers for domain2.com

  2. Request SSL certificate for domain2.com at Care

  3. Update settings in DNS Panel with correct referal to domain2.com and lower TTL

  4. Request IIS 301 redirect domain1.com to domain2.com at Care
    1. No individual redirects are necessary because all url-keys stay the same

  5. Change setting in DW:
    1. Change website settings to domain2.com

(External actions like on Search Console are left out on purpose.)

Yes.

You do not need care to redirect your URLs from domain1 to domain2.

You add both domains to the website and set the new one (domain2) as primary and then Dynamicweb will automatically redirect to that.

Hi Nicolai,

Does DW handles the 301 redirect to the new domain as well by default?
