Removing ecom group from URL

Hello,

I would like to start using a new standard on projects where the main products are under a primary container group rather than being in the root. For example:

Product Catalog > SHOP1 > Products > Shoes
Product Catalog > SHOP1 > Products > Socks
Product Catalog > SHOP1 > Products > Shirts

Currently, we usually don't have the "Products" folder.

The reason we want it is for two reasons:

  • In integration, if a product is set with a PrimaryGroup value that doesn't exist (yes, it's from bad data, but it happens) then a group is automatically created. We don't want that to automatically show up in the product catalog.
  • Sometimes we want to have Promotions or Service Items or some other type of group that doesn't show in the product catalog

So, putting all products that will be shown in the product catalog under one folder is a clean way to flag and group them. Then we can say that the whole Products groups is shown in the products catalog without explicitly assigning each subgroup.

However, the issue is that the URL becomes something like sitename.com/products/products/Shoes/123-AB

What would be the best way to remove the redundant 'products' from the URL?

Thanks,

Scott
