Our customer currently runs swift1 and we are in the process of upgrading to swift2, without changing to a new swift2 database. We've added the swift2 files and wish to create the sections(underlined in attached image) in backoffice as they are in a fresh swift2 database. Is this a possiblity?

Hi Joakim,
Those are called "Tree sections" and you can define them by editing pages. For any Folder or page, you can find the option under Properties/Layout:
