Variant images greyed out in default Swift

Hello,

I have noticed that for some products, the images of variant are not editable. I cannot figure out why this is, other products are editable. So it seems nothing to do with the fields settings "Across all variants" 

What is causing this?

They are inherited from the master product - you can change how this works in Settings -> Ecommerce -> Product Catalog -> Asset categories.

Well, I looked at the setting a few mintues before I posted ;-). but it turns out the setting for this Asset Categorie is set to None.

Somehow images in this Asset Category are sometimes editable, and sometimes not

In this product variant the images are editable:

Any other option I'm missing here?
