The US format in the Date Format drop down for Area settings has a typo. See attached; notice how the first separator char is a / (correct) but the second one is a dash. I tested this on the latest version (8.5.1.12)

This is a backwards compatible setting. If you set the regional settings on the website, that should control the date format of all date tags except some old modules (Like newsv1 etc.).
We cannot change the current format, since existing sites will possible break (if they use JS or conditionals presuming this format on the data string etc).
If you need it, we can add a new string.

Aha, I see. I always set it when setting the regional settings too, so thanks for clarifying that. But is this really the date format that is being applied or is it just listed wrong in the UI and still applies dd/mm/yyy instead of dd/mm-yyyy?
