Recipient Provider with "Email Permission" optional

Hi,

It has become very common to use the Email Marketing module to send not only newsletters, but email notifications to all users.

The problem is that when we have scenarios where a user may have opted out "newsletters", we still need to send them important email notifications (security email blasts, etc...). We'd like to the ability to choose whether or not we'd be excluding users based on "Email permission"

Here's what we understand:

  • There's a thin line between an email communication and a newsletter - the customer must be conscious of it
  • Creating a custom recipient provider from "Dynamicweb Users" does not work because we lose the ability to have the user selector (check attachment)
  • We could use a group for "Newsletter recipients" only and manage unsubscriptions throught the other settings, but after a few projects, the team and customers find it always more complex than having this settings (less groups and settings to maintain)

Best Regards,

Nuno Aguiar

You already know it is a REALLY bad feature...! Sales guys cannot be trusted with that kind of responsibility :-).

Anyways, I've created TFS#27593 which will give you a new check box "Send to users that does not allow emails" on the Dynamicweb User provider. Ready in 8.9.1
