Sure - the template tags that you've have availaible is the ones that is here:
http://templates.dynamicweb-cms.com/TemplateTags/Dynamicweb-template-tags/Module-tags/RSS/Internal/List.aspx
However, in the RSS module, you can specify which news you want to output in the feed, ex: from a specific news category.
But you cannot get the category id, or the category name of the news category with the template tags... ?

The RSS feeds published by Dynamicweb uses a default RSS xml format - and as far as I know there is no room for a news category in that format....?

True, but lets say you wanna track it with Google Analytics, and you want the link to be something like:
http://www.customerurl.com/Default.aspx?ID=10332&action=3&NewsID=2621&utm_source=NEWSTITLE&utm_medium=RSS&utm_campaign=NEWSCATEGORYNAME
That way you can track it with Google Analytics, which would be very usefull... So that's it way the feature request could be very handy for some....

Ah - get it.
But the templates you are referring to are used for displaying a feed on your site and not for publishing from your site.
