I know it's stupid, but I've just spend a couple of hours editing a new paragraph item type. The reason why I couldn't get it to work were that the item type kept showing up as a normal paragraph. It took me quite a while to figure out that there is a button named "Item" that switches between normal paragraph and item in the paragraph list. Also when I want to edit an existing item, the standard view is "paragraph", not "item".
In my oppinion it would make more sence to start in "Item" view, when the new paragraph is an item.
The solution is 8.5 and the page with the paragraph list is also an item.
Of cource it could also be the case that I'm missing something trivial and thereby everybody reading the post is ending the week with a smile. On that note I wish you a nice weekend.
