Page- and paragraph templates - hierarchy

We have a couple of sites with the Web Sites module - and sometimes we have to make templates for the different languages. It would be great if it was possible to select which templates that was allowed to be used within the individual sites.

As it is now all page templates and paragraph templates are available at any given time. When You have a site with let's say 5 templates that has to be translated to three languages - then the amount of page templates (if they are language specific) triples. It would be super if You could bind the templates to the web site in hand ie. in the Danish site - only Danish templates was available for the admin and on the German site - only the German templates was available and so forth.

Secondly it would be super if You could bind a selection of paragraph templates to a page template. If You are fx. creating a news page - it would super if only news paragraph templates were available, if You made a photo gallery - only the photo gallery paragraph templates were available.

It should be possible to allow a single paragraph template to be used on multiple page templates - and the same goes for the page templates - it should be possible to allow the usage of a page template on several Web Sites.

I hope this makes sense. I talked about this with our PAM and she thought the idea was good and that I should post the idea in this forum.

Hi Sonni

It sounds like you are using the old implementation system with master and page templates.

If you use the new frontend implementation, "Designs & Layouts", things like paragraph templates are limited in the context.

Please spend some time reading the documentation at http://developer.dynamicweb-cms.com/documentation/for-designers.aspx

There are still some useful ideas in your post though - I've added it to our backlog for further inspection.

Thanks for posting!
