Instant search sorting

Hi there,

Dynamicweb's instant search gets sorted alphabetically, which often doesn't make sense seen from a user-perspective.

For example on a shop like Click: http://shop.click.dk/, if you search for "Canon" you expect products with Canon to be shown first on the list. This is not the case.

We have severable cases where the standard instant search function makes no sense when it comes to usability, and people often think that the search is broken.

Could you please consider implementering af more user-friednly instant search, with a sorting that makes sense to the user?

Kind regards,

Nina

Hi Nina,

Thanks for your post. Search is not something we can deliver out of the box and best practice for everybody. It needs to be configured to meet different customers needs. It is possible for your developers to work with the current lucene index that provides the instant search.

In order to meet even more complex requests we will provide a new index method with one of the next releases - but it will still be something you should configure to match your customers needs.

Hi Asger,

Thank you for the fast response.

I understand that most customers have specific needs regarding their search engines and that they are most often specific to their product specifications, however there must be some sort of general setting that could solve some of the problem. We will be looking forward to the new methods and the possibilities that it will bring.

Could you please direct me/us to where in the current setup, we are able to configure the luncene index provided with the index search?
