Trailing slash in new Ecommerce Navigation Provider

Hi,

Please consider these 2 URLs:

And these 2:

They point to a product list (top 2) and a product detail page (bottom 2), but unlike a regular content page in Dynamicweb, the trailing slash it not removed by Dynamicweb. i.e.:

So the result is that SEO engines see the above as 2 separate URL, generating duplicate content pages reports.

Can the Ecommerce provider be updated to have the same behavior as the regular content pages (remove the trailing space)?

Best Regards,

Nuno Aguiar

That is not duplicate content...

It is, at best, a waste of time to talk about.

Like this is not duplicate content:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Levoit-Purifier-Allergies-Vista-200/dp/B07XY193BY/ref=psdc_3147771_t1_B07JBYGKQW
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Levoit-Purifier-Allergies-Vista-200-duplicate/dp/B07XY193BY/ref=psdc_3147771_t1_B07JBYGKQW

Also this "issue" is isolated to the old URL system/providers. If you use the new version running on the page based url providers, they are using the same infrastructure as page URLs and will redirect if url ends with "/", https://doc.dynamicweb.com/documentation-9/platform/platform-tools/customized-urls#8707

Remember to disable the old providers when enabling the new ones.

Hi Nicolai,

I don't want to focus on the "duplicate content" topic, what I want and need is to address the trailing slash.

I followed your indication, and can't get it to work. What am I missing? https://www.screencast.com/t/ccv2pWm65y7

  • I have the "old provider" disabled
  • I have the new one enabled
  • I still get the trailing slash URL not redirecting the the non-trailing one

Hi Nuno

Just played with it - i cannot figure out your setup.

You can see the urls here: https://dev-beaker-wgo.dw-demo2.com/models?showurlindex=true

Here is an example: https://dev-beaker-wgo.dw-demo2.com/models/motorhomes/class-a

If you try https://dev-beaker-wgo.dw-demo2.com/models/motorhomes/class-a/ you will see a redirect

This is awkward. I cannot reproduce my problem anymore. Maybe some cache when I saved the screencast... all good then. Thank you.
