Specific shopping cart for different area's

Hi,

We've created a website containing multiple area's and shops where every area (e.g. area Car and area Boat) are linked to a shop (e.g. shop Car and shop Boat). On these area's we've created pages with on those pages the Shopping cart V2 module with the shop assigned for the specific area.

When a user adds a product to a newly created cart on the Car area I can see my order nicely on the page containg the module. I can see the lines I've added to my cart and I'm able to modify them. But when I go to the Boat area I see the exact same shopping cart although I was under the impression that the specific shopping cart should only be available for the specific area in which it was created.

How can I get my desired behaviour? Specific shopping carts for specific area's?

Cheers,
Tom

Hi Tom

If you use 2 different hostnames, i.e. carshop.domain.com and boatshop.domain.com, you will have 2 different carts - because it is controlled by cookies.

Alternative is to use context carts - one for one of the shops, and one for the other. That requires that your addtocart link contains information on the context to add the product to.

Hi Nicolai,

The strange thing is we've implemented the application as you explained in your first sentence; with two different hostnames. But this doesn't make the shoppingcart exclusive to one domain but it still shows the same shoppingcart for both domains.

We could try the alternative, but I'd like to know what we're missing first...

Hi Tom

And when you change from one area to the other, you are also changing the hostname in the browser? If that is the case, it can only be that you logs in with the same user on both sites?

That's correct Nicolai. The hostname is changed in the browser but it's also a wish that a user could have multiple shoppingcarts over multiple shops without the explicit need to log off and log in again for a different user account.

Hi Tom

Do you have this checkbox set? Try to delete it.

It's unchecked in our application.

Hi Tom

That makes no sense. You need to provide me links to the solution so we can take a look at it.
