Smart Search duplicate products

Hi,

I've created a smart search to find all products with a custom checkbox set to true (New product - yes/no).

It finds 42 products (so it says in the backend "site tree" on the left). When I then click the smart search in backend, it changes the number from 42 to 17. In frontend it shows multiple instances of each product...  It seems like it outputs the "main product" + each variant. It found 17 "main products", and if I count in all "main product" + variants it adds up to 42...

 

Any ideas?

Hi Jacob,

The backend behaviour of smart searches is that variants are not listed individually in the ecommerce tree, but extended variants are listed in mgm center -> ctrl panel -> smart searches. And I can see you are correct that the count in the ecommerce tree appears off sometimes.

In front end the output should follow the settings for variants on the product catalog: Show / Hide / Group.

Hi Christian

 

How do I solve the problem when outputting a smart search with extended variants in a rss-feed? Right now the same product is displayed multiple times as no grouping seems to be possible?

Will it e.g. be possible to add a rule for the smart search only to include main products?

It seems that the bug should be solved in 8.3 coming out on tuesday... I definetly hope so, because I have quite a few sites where I would like to use it... http://engage.dynamicweb-cms.com/Buglist-1361.aspx

Oh, that will be nice! (besides I can only see my own reported bugs in the list :-))

 

The support team replied this week, that the problem with the smart search not handling extended variants correctly is not a bug...
