RMA requesst types

Hi,

Is there any way to adjust/control the RMA request types when submitting a new RMA request? Currenty there is "Return", "Defective", "Exchange" in the list.

Also, what would be the best way to add a file/photo attachment to a RMA request submission?

Hi Jon

They are not adjustable as they each of them trigger different built-in behavior on how the RMA is handled. What is your use case?  Maybe the state is usable instead of the request type to distinguish your situations?

Hi Nicolai,

I would like to use the RMA module to allow the customer to send queries about the products that have been purchased. But perhaps when creating the request they do not know if it will be a return or exchange. Also, this may be useful also to discuss a query about the order even before it is shipped.

Perhaps I could just fix the request type as "Defective" and either use the state like you mentioned or add a custom field to specifiy other types of queries. Like “Product Question”, “Order Question”, “Product Complaint”, “Shipping/Logistics Complaint”.

I also need to add a photo field, which I will have to do manually as well (this would be a great feature, but I know it is not on the list yet). Is there an event I can subscribe to on creation of the RMA request to add these fields?

Hi Jon

Thanks for explaining - that is a different RMA approach than I've seen before. I think you can use state for other types of queries.

You can either upload the photos before submitting the RMA form and add the link to the files in a custom field or pick up the photos on the submit using a notification subscriber.

Hi Nicolai,

I guess it is not strictly RMA that I am trying to use this for, but customer communications about an order progress and delivery, and then perhaps complaints afterwards. So I understand that this is not perhaps what it is designed for. But I am quite surprised that for a RMA that there is no way for a customer to upload a photo or document when putting in a defect or return request. I would really like a few custom field for this module, but at least one upload field is essential.
