Product Stock based on total variant stock

Hi Guys,

I am not sure I have seen this functionality or wished for it.

I need the total stock of a product to be calculated automatically based on the total stock of the variants of it. Is that something that exists already? Will it be implemented?

Thanks,

Adrian

Hi,

Yes, you can make a setup sp that the product "Stock level" field is a count of al variants.

From http://manual.dynamicweb-cms.com/Default.aspx?ID=7155#30148

Sum of all variants in "Stock level" field
The Stock level field in Details is read-only and sums up all variant stocks if both these settings are set:
The Default dropdown in Variants is selected to something other than "none", and Stock is marked as Across all variants in Management Center -> Ecommerce -> Advanced -> Fields.

If you open a new variant when you have this setup, the Stock level field is also read-only as the main product. You need to save the new variant in order to make it an extended variant and then be able to edit the stock field.

I hope that this is what you need.

Kind regards,
Merethe

Hi Merethe,

Yes indeed. I knew I have seen it somewhere but I could not remember where.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Merethe,

I have successfully tried (finally) the settings and I have some questions about how it is supposed to work.

The mai request is to have something set in the Default variant dropdown.

Assuming I will always define the first variant to be selected in that dropdown, what will happen if the main variant is out of stock?

How will the product URL be affected by this change? My feeling is that this change will actually redirect to the default variant but I might be wrong.

Thank you,

Adrian
