I see the benefit of having the possbility to inherit the product category fields from parent group, although I am experiencing a weird behavior.

If the current group has the same product category as the parent group and the Inherit fields from parent checked, every time the group is saved it will concatenate both values as expected. Although, when the field is empty on both group and parent group, it generates just a comma, and then multiple commas since that's the value, creating bad data on group and products.
I know this set up doesn't make sense but users can easily have wrongly set. Could we prevent commas to be added when fields are empty or select the same product category when Inherit fields from parent is checked?
