External links not supported for product image assets

Are external links not supported for product image assets? The image preview on the backend displays as expected, but the frontend does not display the image(s). I've tried this on two different sites running 9.15.3 + 1.19.0 with no luck.

Hi,

Can you provide a link to your solution so I can see your setup or can you make a video of the setup?

You write about external link but it's missing images?
Is it links to external images? (located outside your silution?)

Hi Merethe,

Here is an example in the frontend https://uat-hillsfurn.mydwsite1.com/seating/fiddler-wood-backless-stool-with-saddle-style-seat/counter-aged-gray-no

To set it up, you can:

  • Go to a product in the backend
  • Manage Assets
  • Set the absolute path for an image (i.e. get it from Google Image search results)
    https://app.screencast.com/7AdF22dNlw8ru
    • It shows in the backend - not in Manage Assets though
    • It breaks in the frontend

The problem is that the Swift's file located in Files/Templates/Designs/Swift/Components/Image.cshtml file is not expecting image files to come from an external source.

Best Regards,

Nuno Aguiar

Hi there!

So I am runing into this same problem, where our customer had links to images from their (external) PIM that we would like to use. Is there any workaround, or are we doomed to having the images located in the solution?

Kind regards,

Anouk

Merethe,

And also Checkout, email and Order Details would need to be reviewed as well
