EDM brings the website down

Dear Community,

I appologise in advance if this question was discussed before. I could not find anything simular. 

Our customer sends out EDMs every Friday using 3rd party marketing platform. This brings the website down every week. There is no integration for this process with DW and we tend to believe it could be the web crawler. However, we are not sure where to start and how to troubleshoot this.

I attach here the log file (may be it will be helpfull). You can see, something is trying to call website around 25 times within a second. This normally lasts for about 10 min.

Hi Elena

You have to attach the log in a zip file - log files cannot be downloaded here.

Well, it is the email system that makes the calls - cannot tell you why.

If the server have problems you have a number of options

  • Devide the sending in different groups so not all people receive the emails at the same time
  • Disable whatever it is that talks to DW in the email system.
  • Increase server ressources
  • Improve the performance of the solution so it can handle the load
