Canonical url change

Hi support,

For our customer we would change the canonical url of the products. This contains the category path at the moment, but has to point to the short url version of the product, see:

Current canonical: https://ridgidkollmann.com/nl/product/rioolontstoppers/powerclear

Short version: https://ridgidkollmann.com/nl/product/powerclear (has the canonical to https://ridgidkollmann.com/nl/product/rioolontstoppers/powerclear)

Do you have a solution for this?

Hi Shiwanka,

These settings changes the whole url structure of the site right? We only want to change the canonical url's. I think there is an extra option needed under Customized URL's with Canonical url settings to fix this, by example "Canonical url without category path" or under E-commerce products "URL without ecom groups".

  • Before: https://ridgidkollmann.com/nl/product/rioolontstoppers/kwik-spin
  • After: https://ridgidkollmann.com/nl/product/kwik-spin

If you see the XML sitemap and search for the product "kwik-spin", you see the problem. The product "kwik-spin" exist 10 times in different categories, so Google doesn't know which one to index. That's why we want to fix the canonical url to only 1 version: https://ridgidkollmann.com/nl/product/kwik-spin
