8.4 canonical url issue in solutionset product detail

I was verifying a solution for canonical usage on product detail.
On the product detail page it is possible to specify a custom canonical url.

 

For example on product "Mongoose Ritual Street Mountain Bike" i update the field canonical to "http://www.otherdomain.com/customproducturl"

At first it seems to work.

But when i navigate to other Bike products("GT Mach One Pro BMX Bike") it is using the same canonical url as product "Mongoose Ritual Street Mountain Bike". This is not good.

 

 Can DW reproduce and confirm this is a bug?

In 8.4 this is still a problem.

When entering the meta information canonical with custom urls it is not shown on the correct product detail page.

Please check this.

 

I need this to work for an upcoming project where they want to enter and force a single canonincal to the product detail page.
