What are Product field groups?

In the upgrade-to-dw9 guide there is a mention about Product Field Groups no longer beïng supported.
But I can't figure out what they are ...
I certainly hope they don't mean Product Group Fields ...
I've used those PGFs a lot in previous solutions and that will cause hell to upgrade ...

Can anyone tell me what PFGs are?

It's an old feature (called Field Groups if I am not mistaken) and was the predecessor of product category fields: http://manual.dynamicweb-cms.com/Default.aspx?ID=7227
