I just updated from DW 9.14.7 to 9.14.8 to fix a problem with the 'Combine products' tool in the PIM module. There was a reference in '/Admin\Module\eCom_Catalog\dw7\ProductsFamily\CombineProducts_SelectCandidates.aspx' that hadn't been updated in 9.14.7, so pressing 'Combine products' would produce an error. In 9.14.8, the tool does not produce an error anymore, but it removes the product number from the variant selected as the master.
An example
I select product ItemA (product number 0001) and product ItemB (product number 0002) and combine the products as either a family or as variants and I select ItemA as the master. It then creates ItemX as a master product for ItemA and ItemB, but somehow ItemA's product number has disappeared, which is depicted below
