For everyone who installs Dynamicweb on a regular basis, I just released the Quick Dynamicweb Installer, an unofficial way to quickly set up new web sites on your development machine.

For more details about the tool, see my blog: http://devierkoeden.com/articles/introducing-the-quick-dynamicweb-installer.aspx

For the source code and project site, check out the project at CodePlex: http://dwinstaller.codeplex.com

Looking forward to hear what you think of this.

Cheers,

Imar

Hi Imar,

This looks awesome!

I've been missing a tool like this, and i'll definitely give this installer a spin :-)

I'm hoping to see a lot of support for this.

Just send me your feedback and I'll use that to improve the tool. Just realize that this is *not* an official Dynamicweb supported release. If it blows up your machine or kills your cat, blame me, not Dynamicweb ;-) (Not that it should do any of that though).

My cat just died...but DW installed fine, though. :)

Your cat died after he wrote the terms and conditions, so you cannot sue him :-P

For anyone following this project: I just released Beta 2 that now supports restoring sites from existing sources (a folder or a ZIP file) as well as backing up and deleting existing web sites. The documentation for the new features can be found here: http://dwinstaller.codeplex.com/documentation

Hope you find these new features useful.

Hi Imar,

Looks pretty good. I forward it to our system's guy for him to take a look and see if he has some special input.

Though I'd see you at the Tech Conference, but you missed out on it :P

Best Regards,

Nuno

Ha, yes I know. I was in the US the two weeks before the conference, so wanted to spend some time with my family as well ;-)

FYI: I just uploaded Beta 3 that resolves a few issues with restoring from a custom ZIP file.
