Hi,

I have some questions about the html editor. I believe dynamicweb is using a modified version of the fckeditor.

1. Is it possible to enable the flash button.

2. Is it possible to enable the Format dropdown. (normal, h, p etc)

3. Is it possible to modify the style dropdown items.

4. Can i load my own css file in the html editor when not using dynamicweb stylesheets. (for customized styles)

5. The undo/redo function of the editor is not alway working as expect. There seem to some fixes for this in newer versions of the fckeditor.

6. Are you planning on upgrading the html editor in the near future.

I like to know what is already possible and which functions/improvements are you planning for the html editor?

Regards,

Remi

1: No

2: Isn't that the same as 3?

3: Take a look at the /Files/System/styles.xml.

4: No, not directly, but if you have no use for Dynamicweb stylesheets at all, I beleive you can obtain the desired functionality by adding you own styles in /Files/Stylesheet1.css. Remember to delete this stylesheet(Default) in the stylesheet module. If you need different stylesheets, create  new stylesheet using the stylesheet module, set the desired area to use this stylesheet and delete the stylesheet. Use the new /Files/Stylesheetxx.css to modify the styles. This approach does has as couple of disadvantages, though. (1)You don't have access to the /Files folder through the Dynamicweb File manager, so you need FTP access to do this. Contact the support team through Help desk to have an FTP account set up. (2) Once the stylesheet is deleted, you can't attach it to a page or area unless you modify the unless by setting the ID of tye stylesheet in Page.PageStyleheet or Area.AreaStyleID in the database (Dynamic.mdb if you use Access). (3) I haven't tried this approach, so I can't guarantee anything. I would like to know how it works, though.

5: Thanks for the hint.

6: We've had a breif discussion about this, and I assume we'll upgrade the editor some time, but there are no specific plans yet, so this is not a promise.

I answered your questions here, although I was of the impression that they all but #4 were support issues. I'll just remind that this forum is not for support issues and feature requests. Support issues should be reported through Help Desk on our partner extranet, and on this site we offer the Suggestions section that contains all suggested features and their status and a form to post your own suggestions.

1: :( maybe in future version :)

2: No it is not the same. If you look at a demo of the fckeditor you have a styles dropdown as well as a format dropdown. The format dropdown only contains generic 'elements' like h1 h2 h3 p etc with no styles and classes attached.

3: Thank you this helps.

4: I will look into this. The /Files/Stylesheetxx.css looks like a solution. But if i do not remove the dw stylesheet there is a risk the Stylesheetxx.css is overwritten.

I will let you know if this works.

Ftp access is no problem. We are a partner and host dynamicweb sites.

5: No problem.

6: There are more advantages if the editor is upgraded. for example the flash button, full screen editting, technical optimizations and more.

Thank you for your answers.

I will post suggestions the the suggestion section.

One more question though. Can i also control the first items in the styles dropdown? Like

etc.

I assume these are fixed and appended with the styles.xml?

For your information.

Adding custom styles to /Files/Stylesheetxx.css is working and the styles are applied to the html editor.

Please be aware if you edit the stylesheet from dynamicweb you loose your added css styles if you save from here.

It is recommened to keep a copy of your added styles so you can easily restore them.

I have not tried deleting the stylesheet from dynamicweb because i still want access to it in case i need it.
