Alternative product images

Is there a possibility to use the alternative image option (described here: http://engage.dynamicweb-cms.com/Alternative-product-images-188.aspx) combined with product variants. At the moment i cannot find a way to place the images for the variants.

If you are using Variants (Extended), this would be default functionality. If I am getting you wrong, please elaborate.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

Let me be a bit more clear. The ProductNumbers i'm using are not unique for the variants (every variant has got the same ProductNumber) i would like to use an unique ID for every variant. But there is none.
