301 redirect - works with ID?

Reply
Hi,

I have recently made a redesign of a website and made it on a new solution on a new server. Therefore all page IDs are changed.

The domain is pointed to the new server.

The new solution uses userfriendly URL's.

Now we have issues on Google with a lot of dead links that ends up on the 404-page.

The nice URL's like www.mysite.com/products i can fix using DW Direct paths, but URL's lige www.mysite.com/default-999.aspx i cannot catch with DW Direct Paths - probably because of the ID...

I have tried URL-rewriting in web.config but I end up with the same problem. This actually used to work, but I think a change/update in DW userfriendly URLs now prevents this from working.

So my question is actualy pretty simple. How do I create a 301 redirect from www.mysite.com/default-999.aspx to www.mysite.com/someurl-888.aspx ?

Kind regards

In direct path setup do this:

Path:
default-999.aspx

Link:
Use the link chooser to find the new page. Do not type someurl-888.aspx

make sure the solution is fully up-to-date.
