Product Field Security

Hi all,

My question is regarding the 'Fields' setting under Setting > Ecommerce > Product Catalogue > Advanced Configuration.

I have 3 sites and let be site A, site B, and site C.

There is common field, for example Product Description.

For site A, the Description field will be enriched in DW.

For sites B and C, the Description data will come from ERP.

Customer would like to set up  'Read Only'  for the fields that come from ERP.

When I ticked the Description fields as Read Only, it was affected for site A and can't enrich/ edit it.

May I know how can I configure for one field on different sites?

Could someone please advise me on it?

Thanks .

Best Regards,

May Thaw.

Hi May Thaw

It is not possible to configure fields to behave differently from site to site (shop to shop).

The only way to achieve something like that, is to not use the build in description field, and create 2 new product categories - one for sshop a, and one for shop b+c. In each category a new description field can be created (so you actually have 2 different description fields - one in each category). Then each shop can use different category and hence have different settings. A little complicated, so maybe not desirable.

Dear Nicolai,

Many thanks for your reply.

May I ask one more please?

When the ReadOnly is checked, it is worked for Products under the Ecom shop - product groups.

For the products under Warehouse, it still can edit the field.

Can it be possible not to edit (read-only as per ecom shop) for products under Warehouse?

Kindly advise on it.

Thanks.

Best Regards,

May Thaw.

Hi May Thaw,

I have just tried this, and the fields seem to be disabled on products in both PIM and Ecommerce.

Which Dynamicweb version are you working on?

And is it the same user you have used to access PIM and Ecommerce?

Best regards,

Steffen

Hi Steffen,

It was tested on Rapido version 3.2.1 and Application version 9.7.2.

Yes, same user have been used for PIM and Ecommerce.

May Thaw.

Hi May Thaw,

It also works for me at the latest 9.7 version, so maybe the problem has already been fixed in a later hotfix.

Depending on which type of user, you are using, you also need to be aware of the three checkboxes in the bottom of Settings/Ecommerce/Advanced configuration/Fields, and in your case probably mostly the 'Read only applies to admin/administrator'. But this seems to be respected in both Ecommerce and PIM, so it's probably not that since you see different behavior.

Best regards,

Steffen
