Main domain redirect

Hi,

Let's consider 2 domains for the same area:

When setting www.new,com as a main domain in a website (language/area for the old folks), does the system interpert it a 301 redirect?

The question comes from knowing how SEO crawlers will behave. If it's a 301 or 302 redirect, all is good, otherwise, crawlers will continue to index the old domain.

Also, what about page shortcuts? Are they 302 redirects?

Nuno

Hi Nuno,

I just tested it, and it does do a 301 redirect first two lines in the Fiddler results; it redirects from my redir2 to my redir domain)

Page shortcuts also do a 301 redirect, as shown by the last two lines.

BTW: I think with a 302 redirect, crawlers continue to index them as well, as it's only a temporary moved instruction. DW does the correct thing and redirect using a 301.

Cheers,

Imar
