Lock translation version

Hi,

Working with language websites is there a way to set specific pages/paragrahps to be locked to the master version?

Example:

  • Master language is English US
  • Language version for English UK and English Canada

Hi Nuno

Take a look at these settings and see if they will help you.

Hi Nicolai,

I need something more. My actual test scenario is something like

  • English US
  • English UK
  • English CA
  • French FR
  • French CA
  • Japonese JP

So I want to set some pages/paragraphs to be tied to the master (example, all english "contact us" pages) but some to be language specific. The settings in the control panel do it for all languages

Does that make sense?

Yes, maybe.

But we do not have more settings than those!

But if you set the "Copy master changes to language versions if values are the same" checkboxes, the values in the english sites will be updated since they are the same.

If you have a master structure like this

  • English US (master)
    • English UK
    • Japanese

Then you have a paragraph on the US master - the name is "Lovely" - same text on the UK but in japanese it is "美しい".

Now you update the US master to be "Really lovely" - since the value on the UK is the same as the US version before the change, it gets updated as well because of this setting. The Japanese version however, does not get updated.

Of course, if you have an image that is the same on all 3, and you change the US and only want to change the UK, but not JP, it will happen anyway.

Hi Nicolai,

After talking about this with you at the DWTC16, I tested it and sure seems like a bug when using Items as Paragraphs. I am missing the indicator whether or not a specific field it equal to the master version.

Can you/anybody at DW reproduce it and confirm it's a bug. I am using 8.8.1.0

We have not implemented the indicator for paragraph items. I'll add a request for the backlog of 8.9.1
