Default meta data

I have filled out the meta data on the website, and not on any of my sub pages.
The documentation then states that DW should show data from the website (https://www.screencast.com/t/x4BWSSeyiX9).
But this is not working in my case.

Are there any settings I have to configure for it to work?

Hi Martin

That was once true - and you can see the documentation page is related to master pages which is a VERY old and deprecated feature.

We no longer inherit meta data since deuplicate content is not good anymore (since many many years ago) and that feature was even older.

so no, it does not work, nor should it. It is better to have no meta data than duplicate meta data.

Thank you for your answer.
But wouldnt it be better to just remove the fields? We got a few customers commenting on this, and if the fields do nothing I would preffer to have them removed :)

Meta data fields has to be there. The inheritance is gone. Think many customers would want them back. Description and title are still good. Keywords is so last millenium... :-)

Yes, title and description should be on pages, but I mean on website settings (Apps -> Websites -> [Website]) couldnt just the meta section be removed from there? If the inheritance is removed, there is no use for the fields?

Agree with keywords, they should also be removed :)

One more question regarding the title though.

If I always want to display the company name in the title, how can I do that?

Ex.
Title on page = "Frontpage"
Title in browser = "Frontpage"

I want to show like this.
Title in browser = "Frontpage - Company Name"

How can I do that without adding it to every page title?

Just add it to the template. But do not do it - bad SEO.... And does not makes much sense. The URL already contains the company name...
