Logging in DW 10 scheduled tasks

Reopening this topic a bit, here's a screenshot of what I saw today. I had a task that didn't run for weeks due to a bug. That's finally been fixed so today I tested it out. I hit run, waited for 10 minutes and then saw this:

Tell me, did it run successfully? I see Failed Failed Failed in the list on the right that draws my attention. I see a red dot with Exception drawing my attention. I see a log line at the bottom that tells me nothing as it's clipped. And maybe, maybe, hidden between fairly static data like the name and the schedule and when it started there's the word Success that may reflect the last run state? I don't know.

Some questions:

1. Why is Task executions not updated with the last result

2. Why is the second Subtasks not updated with the last results

3. And why doesn't Log history much better convey the current status, like displaying the current status and more information from the log lines?

I think it's time to redo those usability studies or ask people different questions. This is a productivity killer in its current form  :-(

Hi Imar,

First of all, thanks for being so invested in continuously improving not only the UI but also the overall UX.

Points 1 and 2 seem to be a bug if the task is actually done. We update the task execution list and status after the task is completed.

We'll look into improving the UI so it's possible to see if a scheduled task is running, and we’ll add badges and better naming to minimize confusion.
