Columns vs Flex columns

Hi,

Why is the default setup that only on header and footer flexible columns are allowed? 

When a customer wants, for example, a row with 10 flexible columns, is there any downside of adjusting the restriction so that the ootb flexible version can also be used on a normal page?

The reason is that flex was made for headers and footers specifically. 

If they make sense for your implementation for regular content, it is no problem to include them. Only have to take that into consideration when and if your are updating.
