After having had to spend some time in the Event Viewer for an issue, I'd like to report some optimizations for it (fine if it's just in DW10)
- When you filter by a category and/or change paging size the sort order is not remembered.
More often than not, set's date asc, when it used to be date desc - Exposing the IP in the details would be a nice addition
- I find it helpful if I'm trying to run down a chain of events in Event Viewer - I have to go straight to SQL for this
- We had to use SQL to find some IPs that were constantly hitting the application. While most were from Google trying to access the old urls, triggering thousands of 404s per day, we uncovered other IPs
- Maybe a nice addition as well would be a some Health check to expose IPs that have more than X hundred/thousands request per minute/hour
- Trying to find patterns for site crashes, not having a real paging helped a lot
- We found ourselves focusing on Errors, disregarding Warnings and Infos
- If we could have real paging, it would have helped
