Product category fields and restore

Hi,

I'm using DW 9.13.8 and having a product category field of type "List" (RadiobuttonList), and set as "Ordinary".

The list has no default values set and whenever I click the icon "Restore" in PIM, the selected value is removed - just as it should.
If I then save the product and reopen it for editing, the previous value is selected once again - just like before clicking "Restore". In other words, I'm experiencering a similar thing as mentioned on https://doc.dynamicweb.com/forum/pim/pim/restore-default-value

My questions are:

  1. What does "Restore" exactly do?
  2. Are there any restriction on the type of field, where "Restore" can be used (Ordinary vs. Reference).

Anyone know about this "Restore"-feature?

Hello Kurt,

- I assume the field 'Stiktype' is a Product Category field and the Product Category is assigned to a productgroup. The productgroup have assigned a 'default' value to the field 'Stiktype'.

In your ex. have the user selected another value on the product than the 'default' value on the productgroup and thereby will the 'Restore'-icon be shown. If you click on the 'Restore'-icon, it will take the value assigned to the productgroup.

Hi Michael,

Thank you for your answer.

Yes, the field "Stiktype" (Plugtype) is a Product Category Field, which belongs to the Product Category "Electrical". This category is not assigned to the productgroup though, so that could be the issue.

Another field called "Power Source" is of the same type and within the same Product Category, but the "Restore"-button is working fine here (clearing the selection on product level).

Hello Kurt,

- since "Power Source" and "Plug type" are in the same product category + of the same type (RadioButtonList) I would expect them to work the same.

But I don't understand why you write "This category is not assigned to the productgroup though, so that could be the issue." ?  If the fields are on a product, the product category are assigned somewhere to a productgroup, otherwise the fields wouldn't be available.

You should check your productgroups, and find place where "Plug type" have been assigned a 'default' value.
