Difficult for editor to administrate variant with large amount of options

Hi

We have a customer that sells clothing. The variants groups are colors and sizes.

Problem is that within colors, they have 60+ combinations (not just primary colors, but colorcombinations as eg. black w/grrey), which they attach to products manually - and it is getting really unmanagable and timeconsuming to find the correct variant color when managing products, and this has also resultet in them creating duplicate color combinations.

We have sorted them manually for them in Settings/Ecom from time to time which helps, but that all goes out the window when they add new variants.

As i understand, it is not possible to sort variants automatically? Is there another "trick" for making variant groups with large amount of options more managle for the editor?

If not, i have a suggestion that you make some sort of type-ahead selector to select variant options within a variant group. This would help a lot when combining products/joining products into variants.

And in the cases where you create a product and it´s variants from "scratch" without combining products, it would make it easier and faster if you had the option to select the values from each variant group. Eg. blue, red, black, green, white from color, and small, medium, large from size - and the system would automatically create all the combinations, and then you just delete the combinations that should not be. This is not possible now is it?

Anyways, my intial question is - how do we make variant groups with large amount of options more manageble.

Hi Hans

For Dynamicweb 10 we have been looking at how this can be improved and you will see a whole new approach to managing variants that takes this into consideration.

Until then, you have to deal with how it works today.

Thanks for the feedback, Nicolai

ok, sounds good. Will there be a relatively simple way of converting a DW9 eCom with variants to a DW10 with variants?

Btw, when should we expect DW10 to be released?

Yes, it is the same data and the same ecommerce logic - just a new UI. So only if you have custom code you need to do something.

When - when it is ready :-) ! We are pretty far in development - just keep an eye out for webinars etc.
