Language layer - Restore to default and other questions

Hi,

Using 9.10.12, we have a website with 12 languages. Working with it, I'm noticing a few things:

  • We can restore Paragraph / Item type settings, but we cannot restore the App
Is this by design? Could we add this feature? https://www.screencast.com/t/AV5LN0m79KC

  • Wasn't there a place where we could restore the entire page and/or entire paragraph completely?
Maybe I'm remembering wrong or from a very old DW7 or DW8 UI

  • Shouldn't there be restore icons on page properties much like there is for paragraphs?
Although this doesn't really account for things in the ribbon bar. Maybe having a UI panel with a table with 1 row per property/field and 1 column per language (sort of like the PIM does)

  • Some of the wording of the settings can be confusing (which is why the customer updated them)
We need to set "Deactivate new paragraphs", and disregard the "Allow paragraph operations" although it says "create", so skimming the options, the user might think that having "Allow paragraph operations" unchecked should be enough

Best Regards,

Nuno Aguiar

@1: We never made that. Call it by design or we never saw the need, I don't know :-).

@2: On page properties of the master you have 2 options. If you select the lock language versions, children will be the same as master. If you click the languages, you get a list of languages and can mark each of them and chosse restore selected to overwrite each selected language

@3: No - but language management of this sort will change quite a bit for DW10 and will be more of what you seek.

@4: Duely noted.

Thank you for the feedback, Nicolai

Hi Nicolai,

  1. Ok, thanks.
Not sure why it is this way for the customer, but we can use some SQL magic to fix this. In the meanwhile if it can be considered for DW10 to have a more general comparable/restorable option would be great

  2. Ah... that's what I was looking for thanks, but somehow I was looking everywhere else

  3. Awesome. Looking forward to it

  4. Thanks

Best Regards,

Nuno Aguiar
