Edit Datalist in backend

Hi,

In the module Apps > Data Lists you can view the contents of the data lists but, as far as I know, it is not enabled to change the values.

Is there any place to edit a datalist in the backend?

Tomas

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I created a data list and tried to view it in the frontend according the docs https://doc.dynamicweb.com/documentation-9/content/apps/data-lists-forms-for-data-lists#sideNavTitle1-2-2

Nothing appears in frontend, here the proof: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bNijZXGCTHesY7zxfTw_PzhICu1f7Uno/view

It looks like the template is broken and there are no other avatemplates. Is there any update of these tempolates? Or any other fixing.

Tomas

Hi Tomas,

The paragraph where the Data List app is associated to, is not within a Row. Try to set it up through the Visual Editor using the "App" paragraph (under Columns) and you should start seeing results.

Hi Nuno,

The "Visual editor" button doesn't appear in any page of my solution (DW 9.9.6).

Where can I enable the Visual editor?

Tomas

Hi Tomas,

It was showing in your proof. Can't you use that page instead?

On the new one you're showing, it's likely using a template that does not support the Grid, that's why you can't see it. You can also try to create a sub page of the homepage and/or any other page. Using Rapido it should look like this https://www.screencast.com/t/zQafqlvTD

Hi Nuno,

thanks for your prompt response :-)

The proof was recorded in a demo solution. In the production solution there is no Visual Editor in any page, not even in the home page. We use our own page templates so, according your suggestion, I restored the original Rapido templates and restarted the server, but the Visual editor is not displayed neither.

is there any other thing I can do to display the Visual editor?

Tomas

The visual editor is only there if the solution has it implemented. Yours do not have that implemented. See more here: https://doc.dynamicweb.com/documentation-9/content/visual-editor/visual-editor

Hi,

The problem is not the Visual Editor. The DW with the Visual editor has the same issue.

The problem is with the template of the Form (for Data lists), as aforementioned. There are no available templates to select for the Form, so the frontend is empty. There should be a template to select according https://doc.dynamicweb.com/documentation-9/content/apps/forms-for-editors#sideNavTitle1-7

I tried to configure the default template in Apps > Forms (for Data lists) > Templates (as pointed in https://doc.dynamicweb.com/documentation-9/content/apps/forms-for-editors#sideNavTitle1-8 ) but no success.

I think this template should be located at Templates/DataManagement but there is not such a folder in the solution. I have a copy of that folder in an old solution but the template doesn't work either.

Do you have a working copy of the Templates>DataManagement folder? or just the template for the Form

Tomas

Hi Tomas,

I understand. I don't have such a template for Forms for Data Lists. To know where the file should live, you can hover the template selector field and the title will give you a hint. In this case it's actually DataManagement/Publishings/Custom and that could either be within /Templates or within your design folder.

You can simply create an empty file there and to @TemplateTags which should then help you see what options you have. That's how I would approach it at least.

Let me know if that helps.
