I have a customer who would like to have a sign up for the newsletter in the checkout.
We've checked this field on the shopping cart:
and then we've set the following also in the shopping cart under user management:
We figured this way we can track the anonymous user by email and also track all their purchases even as anonymous users,
so we could filter on those when sending out newsletters.
However this doesn't give us the desired outcome. Here is what happens with the settings above:
On checkout, when signing up to newsletter, after the purchase it will sign you in to your user which it added to the "Newsletter" group. (Problem 1).
When attempting to go through another checkout with the same email again (as anonymous user) it will fail with the error message: (Problem 2)
So my question is: Is there a way to subscribe to newsletter via checkout as an anonymous user, and have us track their current and previous orders when sending newsletters to them?
