Assortments and products in sitemap

Hi,

I have a question regarding showing products in the sitemap.

I have a shop with assortments in frontend activated and one active assortment. Furthermore, Include products are checked in the Product catalogue navigation settings and I can see products in the sitemap when assortments in frontend is deactivated.

Is it possible to include products in the /sitemap.xml without having an anonymous assortment?

Hi Vincent

You should never have "include products" in product catalog navigation settings. It is very very very slow, unless you have only a few products. And it is not needed for sitemap.xml.

Products in assortments are only available to users that has access, that is the entire point, and no, those products are not in the sitemap as Google and other bots are anonymous.

Attached find an example of an implementation of a layout template that makes the sitemap.xml in a custom way. Then you can make your own logic.

Hi Nicolai,

Thanks! I'm trying to use the attached layout template, but I'm experiencing difficuties overriding the default sitemap functionality:

I've set up a new page using the sitemap template file as the layout and changed the precise url to /sitemap.xml - what am I missing? When I visit /sitemap.xml I still get the standard DW sitemap.

Hi Vincent

Apparently you cannot name the page sitemap.xml - I have just changed that so you can take over that URL, TFS#86929 out with the next relase of the Dynamicweb package.

In the meantime, you can name it sitemap2.xml and on the website properties, "robots.txt" dialog, add a reference to your /sitemap2.xml sitemap. See dump
