Add a download link/button to "File Manager" fields in backend.

I have added some custom "File Manager" fields to Orders. This is very useful and allows me to upload and attach pdfs/docs to the order record. The only problem that I have discovered is that it is not easy to download that document later when I want to have a look at it. I can see the location of the file and then I have to go and find it in the files module.

Would it be possible just to change the path at the bottom into a link to directly download the file? Or a button on the right side?

I am surprised this is not a bigger issue. The custom file attachments fields are very helpful on a product or order, but there is no way to download or preview them when going back later to view the details. Adding a link to the file does not seem like a very difficult thing to provide. Is this in the pipeline at all?

Hi Jon

I guess it is not a very common scenario since we have not heard much about this previously. Personally I do not recall ordering anything online where I should upload documents...

Anyways - we can add a feature request to make it possible to download the referenced file from the file editor. It should be fairly simple to implement, but has never been a need... TFS#86786

Hi Nicolai,

Thanks for considering this anyway. I guess this would only come up if people are actually using the file manager fields in an order. But if most systems manage orders outside DW (NAV/AX) then this may not be an issue for most others.

It is quite useful if the order is managed in DW as shipping documents can be attached to the order and made available to the customer. The only problem is that the admin who uploads the shipping document cannot go back and check it as there is no way to download it again.

Regards, Jon.
