Redirect content and product pages

Hi,

Our customer has been trying to add redirects for there website, redirecting content pages and/or product pages in Settings -> Web and HTTP -> Redirects.
The redirects work when DW cant match any product or contentpages. But when DW matches the path to a content or product page, it doesn't redirect.
When I unpublish a contentpage it shows a 404 and even then it doesn't redirect.
Now when I go to the Page -> Properties -> Advanced and enter a Shortcut with option Redirect. It does instantly redirect, yes!

So we can redirect contentpages now, but this still leaves my products problem. Deleting old products is not an option since they could still be linked in old orders.
How can I redirect products?

Hi Maik

There is no built in solution to redirecting inactive products. It will not work in the redirect module since the URL exist.

In 9.9 there will be a feature of a replacement product that can be used for redirects, but not released yet.

In 9.6 you can create a related group called "replacement product(s)" and implement that in your product detail template. If one product is present, you can do the redirect from the template - if multiple products are present, you can either redirect to the first one or display the list for the user to select from.

Hi Nicolai,

Thank you for your reply. I'm not sure if its replacement products were looking for. Maybe the customer wants to redirect to a product overview page or content page.
But we'll try to access the redirect list and see if we can redirect from the template if any redirect matches.
