I believe I have mentioned this before, in another thread. I am bringing it back because I see an increase need for it.
While Manufacturer is a very useful Object for storing additional information about the Manufacturer of a product, we see very often the need to have an additional object for Brand. Apart from the BrandName (that can be defined as a ProductField) we also need BrandLogo. Of course, this can also be added as a product field, but it would mean the user to fill in BrandName and BrandLogo for every Product. This can generate misspellings and a lot of additiona effort.
I see that you guys have felt the need for this as well, but decided to go with the ProductCategoryFields instead.While it might be a workaround, it does not feel like a valid, long term solution. Having a standard Brand object (just like the Manufacturers) might open a lot of possibilities to reuse the data in other lists, searches or filters. Since ProductFields are not as flexible as the ItemTypeFields, we need this functionality to be supported by DW.
Another good addition would be Seller. This is particularly useful for MArketPlace scenarios. I know we don't have a MarketPlace ready functionality yet, but considering this as early as possible, might bring some benefits in the long run. In my view, Seller would be a connection to a User (maybe a specific type of user) but I am open to any other approaches.
