Inherit values for Details loop in all languages

Hi guys,

I have a solution running DW 9.6.12. I have set the Details property (both Images/Links and Text) to be the same for all languages and variants, hoping that any information added here, will be inherited in all languages.

Apparently it is not the case and the values are only visible for the main language.

Is this a bug, a feature or a missing setting?

Thank you,
Adrian

Hi Adrian,

I was able to reproduce the issue on DW9.7.6/9.8, it's now bugged by TFS 75885 has been submitted. The issue is not reproduced when differentition across languages/variants are enabled for the fields ( the fields should be extra filled for each language where product is translated in). Thanks for observing.

Hi Oleg,

Thank you for the confirmation. Will you release fixed for all versions? 9.6.x, 9.7.x and 9.8.x?

Thank you,
Adrian

Current and previous release maximum. That would be 9.8 for sure, 9.7 if possible (can be a too big of a change to a merge - we do not know that yet).

Hi Nicolai,

Thank you for confirming. Hopefully 9.8 will be a bit more stable for production by then, and we'll be able to upgrade to the latest version.

Thank you,

Adrian

Dear friends,

Actually, TFS 75885 was rejected with the reason: “This functionality was deprecated with the introduction of ImageCategories / AssetCategories. So it should be possible to obtain the same thing by using those.” So, you now can use ImageCategories loop to render appropriate images defined in 'Images' field of product. The feature is implemented in DW9.6.0 and up.

Hi Oleg,

Thank you for the details.

This means I should change my template code and it should work even in 9.6.12, right?

What happens with projects without PIM? I believe ImageCategories is mainly a PIM functionality.

I cannot ask the customer to pay for PIM license just to be able to inherit images between languages.

Thank you,

Adrian

Image categories are also in ecommerce. But not on 9.6.12

Hi Nicolai,

What is the first Dw version supporting ImageCategories without PIM?

Thank you,

Hi Nicolai,

I have checked a solution running 9.8.4 without PIM and I can't see any way of managing the asset categories.

I see the changed interface for Details section on the product detail page but I don't see the option in the Settings/Ecommerce/ProductCatalog list not in the Advanced section.

I am definitely missing something.

Can you help me out?

Thank you,
Adrian

Hi Nicolai,

Any thoughts on my last comment? Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Thank you,
