Review before sending user details in DW9

Hi,

I have recently upgraded an older DW8 solution to DW 9.6.10. In DW8, when you would send the user details to a user, just before sending it, you could make changes to the e-mail before it was sent.

Does anyone know if this ability has been removed in DW9?

Hi Kurt,

I suppose you mention sender email in 'Send user details' form launched from user edit form in backend, right? I've checket my test environment based on DW9.6.10 and saw that it can be changed successfully befor sending. Did you clear cache of you browser after upgrading? Besides, last DW9.7.4 has extra fields in Settings-CP-Users can be filled default data but it can be rewritten in the form anyway.

Hi Oleg,

Yes, sorry, I mean the user edit form in the backend, as you mentioned.

I know that I'm able to change the sender name and email address, but in the old DW 8.9 version, you would be shown a preview in a textarea, where you were able to change the content in the mail itself, after it was merged with the user data.

This preview window seems to be missing in DW9.

Hi Kurt,

The edit form was removed in DW9, so you will have to use different templates instead.

Sorry about the inconvenience.

Hi Morten,

Okay, so they cannot get this functionality anymore, but need to code it directly into the differnet mail-templates?

That is correct.

The "Send user details" feature was primarily used for sending username and password to a given user. Instead you should consider sending users an email with information about how they can recover/reset their password. See https://doc.dynamicweb.com/documentation-9/users/user-management/extranet#2519

Alternatively you can use Email Marketing to send out emails with any content you like.

Best regards,
Morten
