News templates for news items missing in the news module

In DW8 the template to be used when the news item is shown is selected on the news item it self in the News module. This way you can select the template that fits the content of the news item.

In the newest version of DW9 the template for showing the news item is selected in the paragraph module settings.

This has two disadvantages:
- All news items will be shown with the same template regardless of the news content.
- When upgrading from DW8 you have to go through all News paragraph settings and select a news item template (should be possible to have a default template like default.html)
- If news items in the same list has different custom content it will not be shown properly since there is only one item template for one list

For combatibility when upgrading the DW8 funktion for selecting templates on each news item in the news module should be in DW9 also.
The option to select item template on the list settings could then overrule the template chosen on the item.

Yes, I know that DW8 and DW9 handles this differently. It had to be like this because of technical reasons.

I am aware it causes some upgrade work, sorry about that. But it will not be changed.

Too bad.

Could be nice to be able to specify a default template by naming it default.html so that we dont have go into each paragrapt to select it.

We have customer with up to 60 paragraphs with the news module

Hi all,

We have the same challenge about handling more templates for a news page. In DW 8 we could choose a template for each frontend view, eg. text on top and picture on bottom, or opposite. What is your recommendation for handling more frontend views in DW 9?

Best, Jeppe
