Export content - DW9

Hi there

How do you export content in DW9?
In DW 8 there was an option under Websites, but I can't find it in DW9. Also I heard that exporting content in items should be supported "soon" - any ETA on that?

Regards,
Rune

Hi Rune,

You can export (and import) item content using the Item Provider in Data Integration.

Hi Morten

Yes, but as I understood it, DW would handle it with the "normal" export content option, which would give you an XML file with all content related to that language layer. I just cant find that option on DW9 :-)

The export button on websites has been removed, because it wasn't that useful and didn't include items. You could accomplish something similar by using Data Integration or a razor template.
We are currently working on a provider for the new deployment tool which will allow you to transfer content (websites, pages, paragraphs, ...) from one DW installation to another (dev, staging, production). The first version of this content provider is planned for 9.3.

Ok, thanks.

So does that mean that there are no current plans for a standard export tool in DW? What we need is a tool that can export the entire langugae layer in a format that translator houses can use.

We will probably introduce a new implementation of the translation export later, which will be based on the content provider for the deployment tool, but there are no firm plans yet.
