Is it possible to inherit item field value from parent pages to children?

We have structure where a single ItemType is used for all levels of pages in a certain area. We would like to be possible to select a value for the toplevel page, that would be inherited to all children under that specific page.

Is this possible in some way?

That is not possible... You might be able to write a piece of SQL that does that for you. If you are a SQL Ninja :-)
