Image Handler VS Descriptive names

Hi,

I need help figuring some stuff out. As I know there are some SEO experts out there, you guys can probably same my day :)

A customer is insisting on having descriptive names for images (ex: .../{product-name}-{product-number}.jpg, instead of the image handlers URL. What I cannot justify if it's all the same for SEO, given that the descriptive filename is in one of the parameters (/Admin/Public/GetImage.ashx?Image=/Files/Files/Images/Products/Product-name-648615.jpg&Width=120&Height=70&altFmImage_path=/Files/Files/Images/Products/noImage.jpg&Format=jpg&Crop=5)

I cannot measure the difference, and wanted some support to go on and justify why this shouldn't matter, but all I can find (from so called SEO experts and tips) is that it does.

I'd love to hear some thoughts on the subject and how could I address the issue.

Best Regards,

Nuno Aguiar

I do not know if it has an affect.

But a couple of solutions

  1. Use the built in image resizing in Dynamicweb filemanager that will create subfolders of actual resized product images on disk. That will make the images use their original names
  2. Install and use https://imageresizing.net/
