No, unfortunately, that is not sufficient, as the valid gateways often only depends on the currency and not the country.

Of course, please take a look at this page from DIBS: http://www.dibs.dk/american-express, where you by default only can accept payments in locale currencies for American Express.

This snippet from the page is in danish:

Denne aftale gælder kun for lokal valuta, dvs. DKK. Hvis du skal modtage andre valutaer end DKK, skal du lave en indløsningsaftale direkte med American Express. 

And we have shops offering payments by iDeal, Sofort etc. where is does not make sense to provide these gateways for a customer paying in DKK

Thanks - so in this case, you would have a customer choosing delivery to Denmark, but paying in Euros/Dollars - so you will get the American Express method available (because of the delivery country)?
